I have heard over and over again that if you can drive in Kampala you can drive anywhere in the world. I fancy that!! For sure Ugandan roads are a nightmare.
Betty a friend of mine living in Ntinda said when she buys her car, she will ensure she has metal guards ALL AROUND the car. I had a good laugh on that one. What brought on this subject however was my car.
Apparently... after attending the wonderful Nutrition Congress in Munyonyo on my way home a matatu driver felt he needed my lane more than i did. So he did the needful; rummed into the right side of the car, reversed to set himself free while scratching my car even more and then sped off. Just like that!!! I got the number UAL 554B! How could i not, it is imbedded in my mind and i even mutter it in my sleep.
The police story as usual.... Up down left right...come tommorow... we are tracking it. Meanwhile my car ...my poor car looks terrible.
I SUGGEST "we" the saloon car or better known as the "my car" drivers start helping each other. Seriously. The matatu drivers have some sort of clique and always step in to save each other from problems. But we too could do the same.
So, anyone seen a UAL 554B matatu out there??
