PART 1 : Self Esteem - The Genesis

This is a sort of follow up to the previous post on Mama dear.

My friend Dennis Matanda among others tends to believe that blacks are not meant to either govern themselves nor excel in other fields. The silly belief is that whites are genetically more intelligent than whites. Whilst I wont go into what gene plays what role, allow me to take a different angle here.

I want to believe this is just the tip of the cooking pot as to what is really happening around us. Somewhere underneath fire is burning and we need to understand, appreciate and CHANGE this. Like the UTL slogan, believe you me, it all begins with YOU!

In the usual african setting, daddy gets the best of everything. No? Ok picture this.

You live in a little hut, one corner (if you can call it that) stands a wooden bed, the other has a three stone cooking place, next to that are three wooden pegs hammered to the floor to which the only goat is attached. (Yes, the other two are no more, one was sold off during the christmass season and the other stolen whilst grazing.) Well, just above that is an imitation of a rack to which the one cock and two hens patch at the end of the day.

This is a family of 5 kids plus parents. Oh did I mention mama is having twins and so stands very tall and pregnant. Not out of pride, no, it helps her to straighten out since she still does have to do the house work. My already numb fingers help out in the counting process and now am thinkng of 9 people! where do they all fit?

Daddy and mummy sleep on the only mattress (pretty tired, it even lost colour, size and shape) whilst the little ones sleep on the floor. Its either on a papyrus mat (pure luxury) or a salvaged goat hide.

Now tell me, and this is just the GENESIS
